Vaigo 3.0: Our next chapter in sustainable mobility
Vaigo is embarking on an exciting new chapter in its growth story. The original founders have reacquired the platform from the Dutch Railways (NS), while simultaneously raising €1 million in growth capital from Akiles and five Flemish business angels. This milestone positions Vaigo to solidify its presence in Belgium and accelerate its European expansion, with a goal of serving 100,000 users by 2027.
Returning to Belgian Roots
Since its launch in 2018, Vaigo has become a trusted partner for major organizations like Proximus, Orange, De Watergroep, and Bank Degroof Petercam. In 2020, the company was acquired by NS to enhance its corporate mobility solutions in the Netherlands.
“The collaboration with NS allowed us to refine our technology and deepen our expertise in steering behavior through mobility policies,” says Roeland Vanrenterghem , CEO of Vaigo. “Now, with this buy-out, our focus is entirely on our mission: empowering companies in Belgium and Europe with smart, guiding mobility policies that drive real behavior change among employees.”
What Makes Vaigo Unique?
Vaigo is an all-in-one mobility platform that simplifies the complex challenges of corporate mobility management for large organizations.
- For employees: A seamless portal to manage all mobility benefits—from public transport and EV charging, fuel-cards, commuting allowances to bike leasing and company parking.
- For HR teams: A robust system to enforce mobility policies, promote sustainable behavior, and automate administrative tasks.
“Mobility is not an administrative burden but a strategic lever for sustainable growth and employee engagement,” says Vanrenterghem. “With Vaigo, we actively drive behavior change through smart mobility policies.”
Driving Sustainability and Electrification
The demand for integrated mobility solutions is growing, fueled by stricter regulations and the electrification of vehicle fleets. Vaigo addresses these needs with:
- Electrification and cost management: Policies that encourage smart EV charging while reducing administrative complexity for HR teams.
- Behavior change: Incentives for sustainable choices like cycling, public transport, and off-peak EV charging.
- Sustainability reporting: Tools for accurate reporting to meet corporate ESG goals.
- An open ecosystem: The freedom to choose and integrate with a wide range of mobility partners.
Supported by Strategic Investors
Vaigo’s buy-out is backed by Akiles and five experienced business angels who bring both capital and deep expertise.
“Vaigo offers a scalable solution that meets the needs of today’s businesses,” says Christophe Rousseaux, Managing Partner at Akiles. “Their commitment to user-friendliness and sustainability positions them as a unique player in the market.”
Vanrenterghem adds: “Akiles and our business angels share our vision and bring invaluable expertise to help us realize our ambitions for growth and innovation.”
Looking Ahead
With this investment, Vaigo is poised to:
- Strengthen its market position in Belgium and expand its customer base in the short term.
- Become the leading European mobility platform in the long term, focusing on multinationals and partnerships with mobility providers.
“Our goal is to serve 100,000 users by 2027 and build a greener future together,” concludes Vanrenterghem.
